Marshall, my Golden Retriever, sitting perfectly content with life, looking over and beyond the placid water at Gobion Woods.

The dog in the picture is Marshall. He doesn’t ask for much. Whatever is given to him he is always grateful for. On his walks, he is eager and at peace all at once. He does his doggy doodling and running and swishing, and then when he thinks you have forgotten about him, he finds the best spot to sit down and soak in the beauty that surrounds us. This painting of him is from a photograph I took of him while waking in Gobion’s woods. Typically, after the dash and snoop, he found the best spot to sit down and look beyond.

I did this painting using acrylic paints with a brush on watercolour paper. I do that quite often as I love the texture of the paper under the brush. I think this is my first actual acrylic painting if I’m not wrong. I just loved the strength of the colours and how easy they were to control as opposed to watercolour. For Marshall’s hair details I used a dry brush with very little paint to gently create strands of hair.
