The structure across the river was almost merging with the blue grey sky. The only thing reflecting light were the slim lines holding up the wheel. Though a typical London sky, grey and windy, it always fascinates me to see how light pulses and reflects from foreground to horizon creating a perfect grey blue palette to play with. This painting was created with acrylic paints using a palette knife and cards on acrylic paper. I created the blustery background with a mix of two blues and white and created the wheel with a card I bent into shape. For the spokes I used a long piece of card. The buildings at the back were done using palette knife and card too. The Copper dome in the right bottom had a bright glow in the dull flat light of the afternoon and really stood out in the foreground. I’ve created that using a palette knife as well.
