The London Blues - Eye in the Sky

The structure across the river was almost merging with the blue grey sky. The only thing reflecting light were the slim lines holding up the wheel. Though a typical London sky, grey and windy, it always fascinates me to see how light pulses and reflects from foreground to horizon creating a perfect grey blue palette to play with. ‍ This painting was created with acrylic paints using a palette knife and cards on acrylic paper. I created the blustery background with a mix of two blues and white and created the wheel with a card I bent into shape. For the spokes I used a long piece of card. The buildings at the back were done using palette knife and card too. The Copper dome in the right bottom had a bright glow in the dull flat light of the afternoon and really stood out in the foreground. I’ve created that using a palette knife as well.
